Crematorium of Luxembourg
Cremation, legally equivalent to traditional inhumation since 1972, is a method of burial that respects both the dignity of the dead and the sensitivity of the living. Since the opening of the Crematorium in Luxembourg-Hamm in 1995, any person wishing to be cremated in the Grand Duchy can do so.
Until today there is only one crematorium in Luxembourg.
In 2022, 3,120 individuals were cremated in Luxembourg. Cremation is a common funeral practice in Luxembourg, accounting for as much as 70% of deaths in 2021.
